TV Repair Part Spotlight: The EAY65170411 LG Power Supply

Mike Smith |

If your LG TV isn’t turning on, shuts off randomly, or gives you sound without a picture, you might be dealing with a failing power supply board - and you're not alone. Power supply failure is one of the most common issues in LG televisions.

Today’s spotlight is on the EAY65170411 LG Power Supply (shown above) - a key player in several LG TV models that can cause major headaches when it fails. Some examples of model numbers with this part could be, but not limited to, the following:  OLED65C9PUA, OLED65E9PUA, OLED65B9PUA, and OLED65C9AUA.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the symptoms of a failing board, how to locate the correct part number (and avoid confusing board numbers), and how to perform a DIY “plug and play” replacement.

As you progress, remember that SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT! Make sure to drain the power out of the TV by holding down the power button for 60-120 seconds. Be mindful of what and where you touch on the power supply board!

⚠️ Common Symptoms of a Failed LG Power Supply

Wondering if your EAY65170411 is to blame? These symptoms are strong indicators:

  • TV won’t turn on at all

  • TV turns on, then immediately powers off

  • You hear sound, but the screen stays black

  • Flashing standby light, but no picture

  • Popping or clicking noises near the power section

  • Bulging or leaking capacitors on the power board

💡 TVpartsToday Tip: Don’t panic! Many of these issues are power-related and can be fixed by swapping the power supply - no professional required!

🔌 Try This First: Power Cycle and Reset Procedure

Before breaking out the screwdriver, try this hard reset:

  1. Unplug the TV from the power outlet.

  2. Press and hold the TV's physical power button (not the remote) for 30 seconds.

  3. Leave the TV unplugged for another 60 seconds.

  4. Plug it back in and try powering it on.

If your TV still won’t come on or shuts off again, it could be time to replace the EAY65170411 board in your set!

🔦 Diagnosing Backlight Failure

Another issue often mistaken for power board failure is backlight failure. If you hear sound but see nothing:

🕯️ Try the flashlight test:

  • Turn on the TV in a dark room.

  • Shine a flashlight at an angle across the screen.

  • If you can faintly see images or menus, your backlights aren’t getting power - and the EAY65170411 could still be to blame for not delivering the necessary voltage to the LED strips.

💡 TVpartsToday Tip: Not all black screens mean bad panels - it’s often just a power supply issue!

🔍 Identifying the Correct Part: Why Part Numbers Matter

When you’re ready to replace your board, here’s the golden rule:

Always use the exact manufacturer’s part number.
🚫 Never rely on board numbers alone.

On LG power boards, you may see multiple numbers, including EAX numbers, which are board numbers used in the manufacturing process. Do NOT use those to order your replacement.

The correct part number will look like EAY65170411 and is usually found on a sticker near the barcodes. This is the number you want to use when ordering a replacement. Sometimes the EAY will be listed, sometimes it will only be the 8 digits after it and you will have to add the EAY prefix!

💡 TVpartsToday Tip: When in doubt, snap a photo of your board and email it to us. We’ll identify the part number for you!

🔧 Replacing the EAY65170411: Plug and Play

Replacing your LG power supply is easier than you might think:

  1. Unplug the TV and place it screen-down on a soft surface.

  2. Remove the back cover using a Phillips screwdriver.

  3. Find the EAY65170411 power supply board.

  4. Carefully disconnect all cable connections and screws.

  5. Install your new board, reattach cables, and secure it with screws.

  6. Close up the TV, plug it in, and power it on!

💡 TVpartsToday Tip: Take photos of each connector before unplugging anything - this makes reassembly smooth and stress-free!

🧠 Final Thoughts: You’ve Got This!

The EAY65170411 LG power supply is a common replacement part - and with this guide, it’s a project you can tackle on your own. Whether your TV is completely dead or acting erratic, a bad power board is often the root cause, and replacing it is a budget-friendly alternative to buying a new set.

✅ Just remember: use the part number (EAY65170411) - NOT the EAX board number or any random string on the circuit board.
