Understanding Sony Power Supply Boards
The power supply board is responsible for distributing voltage throughout your television, making it one of the most critical components inside the set. When this board begins to fail, symptoms often include no power, random shutdowns, flickering standby lights, or a TV that attempts to start but never fully turns on.
Sony power supply boards are typically the easiest to identify compared to other Sony components. You will usually find the correct part number on a barcode or QR code label attached to the board. These numbers often appear as a solid nine digit sequence beginning with the number one. In some cases, the same number may also appear in a dashed format printed directly on the board itself.
An example of a Sony power supply part number would be: 1-001-390-11 or 100139011.

It is common to see multiple numbers on the power board, which can create confusion. The safest approach is to focus on the barcode label and treat that number as your primary reference. Navigating Sony Main Board Identification
Sony main boards are where things become more complex. As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, unlike many other manufacturers, Sony often does not print the true part number directly on the board. Instead, you will find a "reference number" (a board number, but we hate to call it that!) on a white sticker, and this is the key to identifying the correct replacement.
These reference numbers typically follow a format that includes a combination of letters and numbers, sometimes with dashes and sometimes without. While this number may not look like a traditional part number, it serves as the bridge to finding the correct component.
An example of a Sony main board part number would be: A-2170-502-A (or A2170502A).
The reference number you would see on your part is actually A-2170-473-A (A2170473A).
