Nothing kills movie night faster than turning on your Samsung TV and being greeted with a frustrating "No Signal" message. Your streaming device worked yesterday, your game console powers on, and the HDMI cable looks perfectly fine, yet your Samsung TV refuses to recognize anything connected to it.
Fortunately, most Samsung HDMI problems are repairable. In many cases, the issue is not your Roku, Xbox, PlayStation, or cable box at all. Instead, the culprit is often a damaged HDMI port or a failing main board inside the television itself.
At TVpartsToday, proudly known as the World's #1 Hub for DIY TV Repair, we help customers troubleshoot Samsung TVs with no HDMI signal every day. With the right diagnosis and an exact-match replacement board, many HDMI issues can be resolved quickly without replacing the entire television.

Understanding Samsung HDMI Ports
HDMI, or High Definition Multimedia Interface, allows audio and video to travel through a single cable. Samsung televisions use HDMI inputs to communicate with streaming sticks, Blu-ray players, cable boxes, gaming consoles, soundbars, and computers.
Without functioning HDMI ports, your television may still power on and display menus, but it won't be able to receive content from your external devices.
Many Samsung models also include HDMI ARC or eARC functionality. These ports allow audio to travel back out to a soundbar or receiver while also receiving video from external devices.
TVpartsToday Tip: If your soundbar suddenly stops responding while everything else works normally, the ARC or eARC circuitry on the main board may be the source of the problem.
Common Symptoms of Samsung HDMI Failure
Samsung HDMI problems can appear in several different ways.
You may see a persistent "No Signal" message no matter which device you connect. Sometimes one HDMI port works while another does not. Other times, every HDMI input fails simultaneously.
Some customers experience flickering images, intermittent picture loss, or sound without video. Others report that devices simply are not detected at all.
If moving the HDMI cable causes the image to appear and disappear, the port itself may have physical damage.
These symptoms often point to a failing main board rather than a problem with the connected device.
Start With the Simple Things
Before opening your Samsung TV, eliminate the easy possibilities.
Try a different HDMI cable. Damaged cables are surprisingly common and can create symptoms identical to a bad TV.
Next, test another HDMI input. If HDMI 1 doesn't work but HDMI 2 does, the issue may be isolated to a single connector.
Connect a different device to the television. If the second device works normally, the original source device is likely responsible.
TVpartsToday Tip: Always rule out cables and external devices before assuming the television itself has failed.
The Wiggle Test Can Reveal Physical Port Damage
Samsung TVs that have been used heavily for gaming or streaming often experience wear around the HDMI ports.
Repeated insertion and removal of cables can weaken solder joints or damage the pins inside the connector.
With the TV on, gently move the HDMI cable where it plugs into the set. If the image flickers or appears intermittently, the HDMI connector may be loose.
While individual HDMI ports can sometimes be repaired, replacing the entire main board is often the faster and more reliable solution.
Why the Main Board Is Usually the Culprit
The main board is the brain of your Samsung TV. It controls video processing, audio, Smart TV features, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and every HDMI input.
When the HDMI circuitry on the main board begins to fail, multiple HDMI ports can stop working simultaneously.
Common signs of main board failure include:
Persistent "No Signal" messages.
All HDMI ports failing.
Devices not being recognized.
Picture without sound or sound without picture.
ARC and eARC problems.
Random loss of signal.
Intermittent image flickering.
TVpartsToday Tip: If several HDMI ports stop working at the same time, the main board is almost always the first component we recommend replacing.
Samsung Main Board Replacement Is Easier Than You Think
Modern Samsung TVs are designed with modular components, making main board replacement relatively straightforward.
After unplugging the TV and placing it face down on a soft surface, remove the rear cover and locate the board containing the HDMI ports.
Take a few pictures before disconnecting cables so reassembly is easier. Remove the screws holding the board in place, disconnect the ribbon cables and wire harnesses, and install the replacement board.
Most DIYers can complete this repair in less than an hour using only a Phillips screwdriver.
Match the Exact Part Number, Not the TV Model
One of the biggest mistakes people make is ordering a replacement board based solely on the television model number.
Samsung often uses several different main boards in the same model series. The only reliable way to guarantee compatibility is to match the exact manufacturer part number printed on the white sticker attached to the board.
Most Samsung main board part numbers begin with BN94 or BN96.
Do not order based on numbers beginning with BN41 or BN97. These are board numbers used during manufacturing and do not guarantee compatibility.
TVpartsToday Tip: If you're unsure which number to use, simply send us a picture of your board and barcode sticker. We'll help identify the correct replacement.
A Samsung TV displaying "No Signal" does not necessarily mean your streaming device, gaming console, or HDMI cable has failed. In many cases, the problem originates inside the television itself, with a damaged HDMI port or failing main board.
By starting with simple troubleshooting, testing different inputs, and understanding the role of the main board, you can accurately diagnose the issue and avoid unnecessary expenses.
