When your TV stops working, one of the first steps in a successful DIY repair is identifying the correct replacement board. Many people make the mistake of ordering based on the board number, only to find out later that the part doesn’t fit. At TVpartsToday, we’ve seen this problem countless times, and that’s why we guide every customer to use part numbers instead of board numbers. In this article, we’ll explain how to find accurate part numbers for Samsung, Vizio, LG, and Sony TVs. That way you can order the right part the first time, avoid repair delays, and get your TV working again!
If you’re ready to replace a TV board, you’re already on the right path toward repairing your own set. But before jumping into the DIY process, there’s one critical step that determines whether your repair will succeed: finding the correct part number.
At TVpartsToday, we specialize in helping customers avoid this exact issue. Our inventory, customer support, and repair resources are built around making sure you get the right part the first time. Below is a breakdown of how to properly identify part numbers for four of the most common brands we supply: Samsung, Vizio, LG, and Sony.

Samsung: Clear and Consistent
Samsung sets the standard for straightforward labeling, which makes identifying part numbers relatively easy.
Main Boards: Look for a white sticker with a part number beginning with BN94-#####X or BN96-######X.
Power Supply Boards: These typically begin with BN44-#####X.
T-Con Boards: Often start with BN95-#####X or BN96-#####X.
Be careful not to confuse these with board numbers like BN97-#####X. These may look similar but are not valid part numbers for ordering. Always rely on the part number sticker for accuracy.
Pictured below is an example of a Samsung main board. The part number can be found on the white QR code sticker within the red circle:
TVpartsToday Tip: If you’re unsure whether you’re reading a part number or a board number, take a quick photo and send it to our team at info@tvpartstoday.com. We’ll confirm it for you, no guesswork involved!
Sony: The Most Complex
Sony boards can be the most challenging because the part numbers are not always directly visible on the boards themselves.
Main Boards: These often require using the number on the white sticker and matching it in our database. Formats may look like A#######A or A-####-###-A.
Power Supply Boards: These are easier to spot. Look for a 9-digit number (sometimes with dashes), such as 1-010-150-11.
T-Con Boards: Many follow formats similar to LG and Samsung, such as 6871L-####X or LJ94-####X. However, Sony also uses internal identifiers, which can add confusion.
Below is an example of a Sony power supply board. The part number can be found on the white QR code sticker within the red circle:
TVpartsToday Tip: When you’re stuck, trust our system. Enter the number from your sticker into the TVpartsToday.com search bar, and our database will match it to the correct part number.
LG: Watch the Prefixes
LG part numbers are easy to misread because board numbers often look similar to part numbers.
Main Boards: The correct identifiers usually start with EBT#####. Occasionally you may see EBR or EBU prefixes as well.
Power Supply Boards: Look for numbers beginning with EAY#####.
T-Con Boards: Usually start with 6871L-####X. Sometimes the “6871L” prefix is missing, so you may need to add it before searching.
Below is an example of an LG T-con board. The partial part number can be found on the white square within the red circle:
Since the part above only has the partial part number of "5531A", you add the prefix "6871L" in order to get the full part number: 6871L-5531A!
Avoid using numbers beginning with EAX! These are board numbers, not part numbers.
TVpartsToday Tip: If the sticker is faded or unclear, snap a photo in good lighting and send it to us. We’ll help you identify the number correctly.
Vizio: A Little Trickier, but Still Manageable
Vizio boards come with more variation, but with the right approach, you can decode them successfully.
Main Boards: These often display a partial number such as GXICB02K039. The full part number requires the prefix “756T,” which makes it 756TXICB02K039.
Power Supply Boards: Look for numbers beginning with ADTV (for example, ADTVN5714AAX).
T-Con Boards: These vary widely in format and style, which is why many customers reach out to us directly for confirmation.
Below is an example of a Vizio main board. The partial part number can be found on the white barcode sticker within the red circle:
TVpartsToday Tip: We decode Vizio numbers daily. If something doesn’t look right, email or call us. Our team will guide you through the process quickly.
Accuracy Saves Time
There are thousands of TV part numbers, and many look deceptively similar. This is especially true with T-Con boards, where just one digit can mean a completely different component. The best way to ensure your repair goes smoothly is to always confirm the part number before placing your order.
At TVpartsToday, our mission is to make DIY TV repair simple and frustration-free.
